Allons-y Pyrenees ref : 6700122

Reference 6700122 Site Sleeps 10 Over 2 Properties

The centre has been created from a traditional French farmhouse and barns, with many original timbers and local stonework. A total of 10 guests can be accommodated in two separate properties. Each house has its own private facilities and outside seating area, but there is also a communal outdoor, shaded barbeque area  and the dining room in the main  house is large enough to seat twenty to provide for groups who wish to eat together.

The grounds have been landscaped to enable visitors to enjoy the views, with secluded or communal seating areas, a herb garden, shrubs and trees.

There is parking for up to six cars.

The properties are situated in the idyllic, hamlet of Thuy. The Pyrenees are twenty miles to the south and provide a spectacular ever changing backdrop to the scenery.

Although rural Thuy is not totally isolated, ten mins from the small town of Tournay and its motorway junction (A64) with good links to airports and major road and rail net works.

Regular flights are available into Pau or Toulouse international airports. Pau approx 45 mins and Toulouse 1hr 30.

Due to the rural location car hire is strongly recommended although we do offer airport transfers and transport for sporting activites.

“Allons-y” is ideally situated for visiting the complete range of tourist attractions and excursions.

The Pyrenees, of course, with their famous Cols and ski stations, national parks and lakes. The Pic de Midi , attainable by cable car, or for the more adventurous (summer only) on foot, dominates the sky line, with the sun glistening on its observatory. It’s now possible to stay the night, under the stars, and breakast watching the sunrise. There are several caves to visit locally, along with the Chateau de Mauvezan, abbeys and churches.Locally, there area myriad of small towns, which offer markets, restaurants, street cafes, wine “caves” and music festivals (notably the 10day long international “ Jazz in Marciac” in August).  The annual national equine festival takes place at Tarbes.

The historic pilgrimage town of Lourdes is only 35 minutes away, with a busy calendar of events throughout the year.

Set in seven hectares of woodland and pasture, with breathtaking panoramic views, our 17C farmhouse is the perfect tranquil retreat.    And with its location just 8 km from the Lourdes valley and 5 km from the Bagneres valley, Cami de Bidale is superbly located for exploring the Hautes Pyrénées region.

This is the region known to the French as la frontière sauvage, where the rugged peaks and vertiginous cols offer world-class winter sports, hiking, biking and wilderness. In the foothills lie hidden valleys and isolated hamlets, cascading rivers, woodland trails and scenic golf courses.

Bidalet (sleep 8/9)

Bidalet has a spacious entrance hall featuring an imposing stone staircase.  There is a large salon, featuring oak beams and an open stone fireplace, with French doors leading onto the main terrace.  There is a comfortable sitting area and the room is stocked with games, books and both UK and French satellite TV.

Next door is the kitchen, a more rustic room centred around an oak monastery table and  a large open fireplace.  The kitchen itself has been fully refitted, and includes a 5-burner gas hob, electric oven, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave.  There is a  washing machine and dryer in the adjoining building.

The bedrooms have been individually designed, and Occitan names connote their distinct characteristics: Solana, Rívatel, Argila  and Cól-Ros.  Each room has an en-suite bath and/or shower room, including a washbasin and WC.

With the exception of Cól-Ros, a double, the rooms can be configured as either twins or king-size doubles.   Solana is the largest room and can be set up as a triple if required.   Rivatél and Argila have connecting doors, making them ideal for families.

Garobit (sleeps 2/3)   Based on two levels, Garobit is independently accessed and enjoys the privacy of its own terrace.  On the ground floor is the WC and a  well-equipped kitchen run, which includes a  dishwasher and washing machine.

The ground floor also features a south-facing living/dining area,  from which there is a great view over the nearby Pic de Montaigu.  There is both English satellite TV, and French TNT, and an integrated  DVD player.  Games and books are also available.

Upstairs there is a spacious bedroom with en-suite shower room and washbasin.  The large window overlooks an ancient chestnut tree, host to many garden birds.

Garobit is ideally suited for two guests,  with the bedroom configurable as either a twin or king-size double.  There is additionally a sofa-bed on the ground floor, which allows the option of sleeping three in total.
